Each year Bass Pro Shops honors the NYSOWA active writer who has been selected as doing the most to pass on our outdoor heritage. This annual award recognizes an outstanding  individual who has shared the outdoor heritage by helping others gain the skills, knowledge and passion for the outdoors, and has thus involved them  in preserving the outdoor heritage. Bass Pro Shops then makes a cash contribution to the NYSOWA Scholarship Fund in the recipient's name. Previous winners Al Benas, Paul Schnell, and Ted Dobs continue to work hard at involving youngsters in skills and appreciation of the outdoors world.

To enter a NYSOWA active member for consideration, write a  piece of 300 words or less listing the writer's applicable accomplishments and submit to: Leo Maloney,321 Robertson Rd,
