Bob Elinskas Has New Adirondack
Hunting Book
New York State Outdoor Writers Assoc (NYSOWA) member and author,Bob
Elinskas, from Utica has recently published his latest book, Adirondack Camps and Hunts.
It is proving to be a big hit with area sportsman and would make a
great gift for the hunter. The well illustrated book covers
stories from a wide variety of deer camps, hound hunting for New
York’s bears, coyote and bobcats. Trail camera adventures
and much more keep the reader in the woods cover to cover.
Step back in time to the Adirondacks
of half a century ago when deer were more plentiful and the access was
more difficult but there was a tradition of hunting camps steeped in
adventure and camaraderie. The reader is transported back to the golden
days of Adirondack deer hunting and the hunting camps at the middle of
the 20th century. Through eye-witness accounts the reader relives the
experiences of the camps, tales of deer hunting success and failures,
and the outdoors world of a by-gone era. There are tales of trappers
and others who made a living or enjoyed recreation in the Adirondacks
that existed in the 1940s – 1970s.
This is definitely
not a dry history or litany of facts, but rather a description or
explanation of the times and the areas, followed by first-hand accounts
of those who experienced the challenges and excitement of the
Adirondacks at that time. The book gives rare insight into the appeal
and diversity of experiences of Adirondack deer hunting and outdoor
adventures. You will meet local characters, visiting sportsmen, and
those who made hunting the Adirondacks a key part of their lives. Their
color and unique personalities put a human face on the big woods and
vast expanses of Adirondack terrain - Oneida Daily Dispatch
