The Move To More PDF
As the electronic communication Internet differences that once divided
PC (Microsoft) and Mac (Apple) users has continued to narrow, one of
the most common compatibility formats has been pdf files. True to its
full name -- Portable Document Format -- pdf files are readily viewable
by users of both Operating Systems, making it truly one of the "most
portable" formats in use for web site downloading and viewing by the
Internet crowd today. Another advantage is larger volume files in pdf
download much faster than html files, and every Operating System, be it
PC or Mac based can view them. This is why NYSOWA is gradually making
our larger volume files available in pdf format. As you'll note when
you open our printable 2010 NYSOWA Memebrship Directory (.pdf), its page format will
allow you to print the full edition if you so choose or need to.
Problems Downloading and Viewing MS-PowerPoint Files?
Opening
and viewing a PowerPoint file may cause problems for some, especially
if their Operating System (OS) lacks the PowerPoint (.ppt) program
feature or if they're running a Mac. Those running an OS that features MS-Office will already have
the PowerPoint program feature installed and can use it to open and
view any .ppt file. However, if your OS doesn't, you'll need to first
download the free PowerPoint viewer that's available from Microsoft. In
a recent check of our many web site links, I discovered Microsoft had
changed the link to its free PowerPoint Viewer. So here's the procedure
to obtain it now:
1A. Microsoft Users Click Here To get the MS PowerPoint Viewer Download Page
1B. Mac Users Click Here to Download Free Viewer
or if your Mac OS has Keynote, use it.
2.Click Download and then "Save File"
3. Once the download is complete, Right Click and click Open.
4. The program will automatically be installed.
5.
Now, once you've downloaded any PowerPoint (.ppt) file from our or others web
sites, to view it, right click on the .ppt file and choose "Open
With Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer."
