More Sept. 7, 2010 From Bill Hilts Sr: Hi Everyone: We need your help! If you have enjoyed fishing the fish-rich waters of Lake Ontario off Youngstown, Wilson and Olcott in Niagara County, those days may be numbered! The Power Authority is proposing a massive offshore wind farm in those waters (GLOW) and we are looking at more than 160 massive windmills that will stretch into the sky more than 400 feet and run a great distance along that shoreline. It will start right on the Niagara Bar, one of the finest fishing holes in the entire world, and stretch eastward. Where the towers are located, security/safety zones will be created which will negate any boat traffic/fishing in those areas. We don't want to destroy those wonderful fishing grounds and we do not want to destroy the natural skyline. Please take a moment and read Bob Cinelli's notice and then send an e-mail to Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey at: davgodfrey@roadrunner.com expressing your desires. We have only until Sep. 15, when the committee will move on this proposal. They are now gauging public sentiment to the project. It's a loser, any way you look at it. The same project may happen in Lake Erie as well, covering all the great fishing reefs scattered along the New York shoreline. Do it now!!! It will only take a few minutes and we will appreciate it. Please forward your thoughts on the GLOW project to David. david.godfrey@niagaracounty.com Bill Sr. Sept. 5, 2010 Al Benas quoted in Washington Post 9/3/10 article "Tales of a Thousand Islands" Aug. 22, 2010 - Second edition of Deer Hunting in the Adirondacks by Dan Ladd Expanded from 168 to 192 pages, updated information on public lands in the Adirondack Forest Preserve, additional material on getting your buck out of the woods, venison preperation and cooking, a special section just for beginning hunters and new photos.
